Abstract:
These data are results from investigations of active subglacial lakes in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, as part of a publication on active subglacial lakes identified from satellite altimetry data (Arthur et al., submitted). A GIS shapefile (.shp) is provided for 7 active subglacial lakes detected from ICESat-2 and ICESat anomalies and differencing of 2-m resolution Reference Elevation Model of Antarctica Digital Elevation Model strips.
GIS Shapefile attributes: Lake area (km2), distance from grounding line (km, from MEaSUREs, Rignot et al., 2016), centre latitude (decimal degrees), centre longitude (decimal degrees), ice flow speed (m/yr, Gardner et al., 2018), ice thickness (m, Fretwell et al., 2013; Morlighem et al., 2022), bed elevation (m, Morlighem et al., 2022), category (high-confidence/provisionally-active), dates of REMA DEM strips used to delineate lake boundary (where applicable).
Lake naming convention follows the most proximal ice shelf: L1 = Lazarevisen; V1 = Vigridisen; M1 and M2 = Muninisen; R1, R2 and R3 = Roi Baudouin.
