Show Abstract
Radiation measurements made during the spring 2008 cruise to the Fram Strait. Albedo of snow-covered sea ice and transmission through it measured on day 3 on the fifth floe. 40 cm snow on about 1.5 m FYI. 4/8 cloud with distinct shadows at beginning, 8/8 cloud with sun visible at end. Sensors 1 m over surface, transmitted sensor depth in/below ice varied in 20 cm steps. Each measurement type (incident, reflected, etc) was made with a different TriOS Ramses spectroradiometer. These are known to have calibration issues at the longest and shortest wavelengths for which data are reported; we recommend using only data from about 350 to 920 nm. No significant quality control has been done to these data.
